error when migrating users to Live@Edu user UserPrincipalName is not valid SMTP address #msexchange #office365
Symptoms: you are synchronizing users using FIM 2010 and OLSync to Live@EDU domain, everything is configured and when you run the MA you get:
Metaverse object 1%: The expected generated Windows Live ID 2% is invalid. Reason: The UserPrincipalName of MetaVerse object “MV GUID” used to generate a Host WindowsLiveId ‘@domain.edu’ is not a valid Smtp Address.
Solution: make sure that the account used in synchronization is member of domain admin group permissions.
The error is 100% not related but that solved the problem.

you might get an NDR 550 550 5.4.1 Relay Access Denied (state 13). when you move to office 365 #office365 #msExchange #microsoft
you might have seen that error, or you might get it if you deleted your domain from Office 365 and migrated it to a new account, or recently created your domain, or it has been a period of de-activation, the reasons might vary but here is the solution:
– follow the steps here to connect powershell remotely, http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/cc952755.aspx
– issue the following command: set-acceptedomdain <domainname> –outboundonly $True followed by set-acceptedomdain <domainname> –outboundonly $flase
you will have to wait 30-45 minutes for information to propagate to Edge servers cloud @ Microsoft.

The UNIX and Linux Operating Systems Monitoring Packs enable discovering, monitoring, and managing UNIX and Linux computers with System Center 2012 – Operations Manager. They provide both proactive and reactive monitoring of the UNIX and Linux operating systems. The management packs monitor components such as processes, resources, and server agents. The monitoring provided by the management packs includes availability and configuration monitoring, performance data collection, and default thresholds. You can integrate the monitoring of UNIX and Linux components into your service-oriented monitoring scenarios. In addition to health monitoring capabilities, the management packs include reports, diagnostics, tasks, and views that enable near real-time diagnosis and resolution of detected issues. I started my test drive for Windows Server 2012 yesterday, I was late behind until the RC, I don’t like the betas (unless of course for Exchange and Lync) as I always tend to wait for the RC and start taking the learning curve.
One of the most impressive thing about Windows Server 2012 is its administration, first let us take a look on how it is effective and productive the new Windows Server 2012 administration:
the first, you will not the new server manager, it is very awesome and starts directly after windows login, and it enables you to open and administrate every aspect of the server:
for example in my labs I like to disable windows firewall, previously I had to go to start menu, administrative tools and then choose the windows firewall, or if you are in server manager you have to go to the top menu and chosoe the windows firewall.
in Windows Server 2012, and from the server Manager console and from anywhere I am I can go tools and open the event viewer, the firewall or any preferred tool listed in the tool section
now let us change the computer name, instead of going to the computer properties , all what you need is to go the local server and choose the settings you want to modify:
now let us add a group of servers to manage:
from the dashboard you create a group of servers, I will create a group of my Windows Server 2012:
Now I created a group and added my Windows Server 2012 Servers:
now I can go to the group and find them listed there:
now I can click on the server and manage it, add roles to it RDP
I loved how it is easy and effective to manage now server 2012, the new server manager is way too awesome and effective and the new management capabilities is great. WAY TO GO Windows Server 2012
